Instant Messaging

You can easily and quickly connect with colleagues on campus with instant messaging from your computer or mobile device. Duke staff and faculty are automatically given a Jabber instant message account and can begin chatting with other Duke members by name. You can even chat with those outside of Duke using their email address (if they are already connected to a similar XMPP client.) Instant messaging is part of a larger unified communications plan at Duke that includes video chat, presence (ability to see a person's availability), voice messaging and conferencing.
