Duke Unlock
Multi-factor authentication doesn't need to be multi-step.
Duke Unlock combines security and convenience, allowing users to log in to Duke services without the need to authenticate with a password or second verification step (Duo). Instead, Duke Unlock uses passkeys that can be verified with PINs, biometrics, or 1Password to authenticate.
Duke Unlock passkeys are cryptographic keys: private keys generated and stored on your device (iPhone, iPad, Android device, or YubiKey) paired with a public key generated and stored by the app or service you are using. When you log in, your device will use the private key to authenticate your identity.
After you register a personal device with Duke Unlock, you can skip using your password and second verification step when logging in to Duke sites from that device. Duke’s password management tool, 1Password, can manage passkeys for Duke Unlock.
