The IT Security Office feels that it’s important for Duke faculty, staff, and students to understand the current threat landscape and how they can best manage their own personal exposure.

For folks who want to effectively manage a meeting with Tasks, and/or integrate meeting notes with Tasks using the MeetingCaptureApp in Teams.

This is an all-in-one virtual conference solution that includes a Lobby with chat and live-streaming of sessions, a rich agenda that supports both meetings and webinars (concurrent and consecutive), speaker and vendor profiles, and an "Expo" floor where attendees can virtually visit booths. We will demonstrate all those features and show what it's like to configure and host a Zoom Event.

Need to create an online survey quickly without getting into the weeds? Or do you want to gather specific information from an audience after an event? This session will include tips for building a basic survey, customizing the ‘look and feel’ (branding), as well as an overview of Qualtric’s most-used features. We will walk through building a survey, step by step, and make sense of Qualtric’s display logic to solicit the data you need and keep tabs on your survey respondents, before, during, or after an event. Beginners welcome.

In this Learn IT at Lunch session, the Academic Media team will give you a live, guided tour of the Bryan Center Studios and show off the media production resources that are available to the Duke community. This will include overviews of:

  • Studio 1 – A large production studio for media professionals to record polished video with visiting guests, local experts and VIPs
  • Studio 3 – A DIY video studio to self-record presentations and video documentation
  • Studio 4 – An audio production suite equipped to record a podcast with up to 4 speakers
  • Hotel Suite – A media editing workstation with the Adobe suite, Final Cut, Camtasia, and other post-production software.

Along the way, we’ll also visit the offices of the Academic Media Production team and discuss their role in creating instructional video for Duke. From green screens to mixing machines, this session will have something for everyone, regardless of any prior media experience.

Blythe Tyrone, Communications Strategist for Duke Learning Innovation, will provide a tour of Canva’s major features, including how to create graphic materials both from scratch and customizing templates available in Canva. Examples of the types of content that may be made using Canva include (but are not limited to): infographics, logos, graphic syllabi, presentation slides, animated GIFs, and social media graphics. Note that some of the features she will showcase are only available to users with paid Canva accounts, but even users new to the free version of Canva will learn something new.

OIT is seeking to decommission its current digital signage solution, Four Winds Interactive by December 31, 2022. They have a low cost, easy to use alternative called OptiSigns. This presentation will cover all the costs and detail the technology to help you deploy cost effective and engaging digital signage for your University school or department (OptiSigns is not currently available to the Health System)
