MediaBeacon
Keep your digital assets within reach.
MediaBeacon is a central service for easily organizing, storing and browsing media assets, such as logos, backgrounds, textures and photographs, produced at Duke. It provides a visual browsing system, advanced search capabilities, and share functionality, including an external portal feature allowing you to share content with non-Duke audiences.
The issues inherent with using multiple local hard drives to store large files -- including loss and damage -- are eliminated. Between MediaBeacon's web application and OIT’s secure, centralized storage, you will easily be able to find specific projects and files to reference and/or reuse, freeing up space on your local hard drive. In addition, OIT’s storage is regularly backed up, allowing you to access your department’s media assets even if an employee leaves Duke.
Upcoming plans include an iOS app so you can browse, upload, and manage content from your mobile devices (future support for Android), as well as researching social media integrations and integrations with Duke systems such as Canvas.
