Experiment and find solutions

Duke provides access to a suite of AI tools you can use to experiment, test workflows, and develop your own AI-powered tools at your own pace.  Self-guided resources are available for those who learn best through experimentation or who want full control over how their AI tools are designed and used.

AI Consultations

Guided, Project-focused support

For people who have a specific project or workflow they want to build, these sessions are designed to help you understand how to approach your idea using Duke-supported tools such as ChatGPT Edu, Microsoft Copilot, MyGPT Builder, and the AI Gateway.

During the consultation, we can walk through the tools that best fit your project, review your idea or an early prototype, and outline the steps needed to build and maintain your own solution. The goal is to give you clarity and confidence as you move forward. This service focuses on guidance for your project rather than general tool training.

What we can help with:

  • How to create and structure a custom GPT
  • How retrieval and knowledge bases work
  • Reviewing a prototype or idea
  • Understanding model selection
  • Preparing documents and prompts
  • Clarifying requirements if we think your idea needs to be moved to Ignite tier

Discover Custom AI Solutions

If your group, department, or cross-functional unit has a workflow that could benefit from a custom AI solution, you are invited to submit it through our project intake process. All requests are reviewed and prioritized based on their potential impact, feasibility, and the resources required for successful implementation. See examples of AI projects underway at Duke.
