Emergency Email & Text

Automation & Monitoring, Email, Calendar & Events

You will receive DukeAlerts in the event of emergency.

Duke will likely contact you through multiple methods to ensure the entire Duke community is reached. Email is the most commonly used for DukeAlerts.

  • Email - Depending on the nature and location of an emergency situation, Duke may send a “DukeALERT” message to all students, faculty, and staff at their Duke email accounts. Duke parents whose students have provided an email address to the University through DukeHub (formerly ACES) will not receive the initial emergency message but may receive a follow-up email from the Office of Student Affairs or other Duke offices, depending on the type of emergency.
  • Text - An alert message may be sent to the mobile devices of Duke community members who register for a text messaging system.
  • Signage - DukeAlerts will also be displayed on electronic signage around campus and Duke websites in the event of an emergency.
