How to Use a YubiKey

You can use a YubiKey on a desktop or laptop, and on a mobile device. A USB port (type A, C, or lightning) is required. 

To use a YubiKey on a desktop or laptop, do the following: 

1. Insert the YubiKey into a USB port on your device. Make sure it is securely connected.

2. From a web browser, navigate to the page for the desired Duke online service (e.g., Box, Canvas, Outlook, etc.). 

3. When prompted, enter your NetID and password.

4. Place your cursor in the field under Or, enter passcode/YubiKey®.  

5. Touch the YubiKey to confirm your identity. You are logged in. 

6. Remove the YubiKey from the USB port when you are done using it.
