ChatGPT Edu expanded with image generation and Deep Research features
ChatGPT Edu, a secure, privacy-focused version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT available to the Duke community, has been upgraded to GPT-5.2, with improvements in long-context understanding, vision, and support for complex, multi-step tasks.
GPT-5.2 is better at executing real-world tasks such as creating spreadsheets and presentations, writing code, working with images, and managing longer or more complex projects.
Beginning Tuesday, Feb. 3, Duke users will have access to:
- Unlimited use of GPT-5.2
- 100 credits per week to use with credit-bearing features and models such as advanced voice
- 3 image generations per day
- 5 Deep Research uses per day
Standard users will have a hard cap on credit-bearing features and will receive a notification when weekly limits are reached. Advanced and Premium users will have a soft cap and may be billed for credit usage beyond the weekly allotment.
Insights from this work will help guide Duke’s ongoing approach to AI enablement and the use of AI tools across the university.
