Kuali Build: Obtaining a Copy of Someone Else's App
With so many Kuali Build app developers at Duke, it's possible someone has already created an app that would be useful to you, rather than creating one from scratch. For example, travel request apps are common in many units. Consider posting to the Kuali Build User Community in Microsoft Teams and asking if someone has the type of app you are looking for. If an app owner is willing to share their app, they need to add you as an administrator temporarily so you can duplicate the app (if they duplicate it for you, they will always be the owner of the duplicate). Follow the steps below.
Update permissionsThe app owner must provide administrator access to the app as follows:
- Open the app and use the ellipsis menu (upper left) to select Permissions.
- In the Permissions window, under Administrators, add the name of the person who wants a copy under Users.
- Close Permissions.
- Close the app.
- Advise that permission to the app has been granted.
The person requesting the copy should do the following:
- On the app icon, click the pencil (lower right).
- In the pop-up window, click Duplicate.
- Pause to let the app duplicate; the window will close, and the app -- Original App Name (Copy) -- will appear in the My apps view. (Tip: Click the heart in the upper left of the app icon to make it a Favorite.)
Once a duplicate of the app is made, the app owner should remove the administrator access they granted to the original app.
