Installing Microsoft 365 Copilot

Before You Begin

  • A valid Microsoft 365 A5 license is required to install desktop apps.
  • A Microsoft 365 Copilot license must be purchased through Software Manager.
  • After purchase, it may take some time for the Copilot license to become available.

Install Microsoft 365 Apps

  1. Go to https://mail.duke.edu and sign in with your NetID, password, and MFA.
  2. Click the App Launcher in the top-left corner.

  3. Select Microsoft 365 Copilot.

  4. On the Copilot page:
    • Close any pop-up prompts if they appear.
    • Select Apps in the left menu.
    • If needed, click More Apps.

  5. Click Install Apps in the top-right corner, then select Microsoft 365 apps.

  6. Click Install Office under Apps & Devices.
  7. Open the downloaded file from your Downloads folder and follow the installation prompts.
  8. After installation, sign in with your NetID (netid@duke.edu), password, and MFA.

Manage Installed Devices

  1. Go to https://mail.duke.edu and sign in.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner, then select View Account.
  3. Select Devices.
  4. Review your current Microsoft 365 installations and manage devices as needed.
