Cvent: Creating a New Event From Template

As Cvent is made available to the larger Duke community, we are instructing planners to use the Duke-branded template for events. Use this process to create a new event using the template.

  1. In Cvent, click the button Create Event
  2. Use the option Use template.
  3. Click Template Category and select Duke - General
  4. In the window that appears, click the category pop-up menu and select General Event templates
  5. Click the template that best matches your needs such as FLEX TEMPLATE: Duke Free Event or click X to cancel.
  6. In the Basic Information section, update the following required fields (these can all be changed after the event has been created): 
    • Event Title
    • Event Type
    • Planner Name
    • Planner Email (NOTE: if you need a contact email address added, please email dukecvent@duke.edu)
    • Format 
    • Primary sponsor

  7. Click Create event. Your event will be created in a Pending state but is ready for you to modify the event to reflect your needs. 
  8. Your event is now ready for configuration and customization. As a first step, click the Preview button and see how your event is operating by default.

Training and reference articles are available. Click the icon with a question mark at the top of the browser window and select Help and Support to access Cvent Help.

After you have completed an event and would like for it to be used as a template for your group, email dukecvent@duke.edu and include the Title and Event Code (a ticket will be created). Allow 2 business days for completion.
