Adding Warpwire, Panopto, YouTube Videos and PlayPosit Bulbs to your Sites@Duke Wordpress Site

One of the most powerful aspects of WordPress is that you can embed videos into a page or post to be able to further explain a point you are making. Duke Web Services has developed tools for embedding videos from Duke's two main video publishing platforms, Warpwire and Panopto, as well as PlayPosit and YouTube.

Warpwire

There are two methods of embedding Warpwire videos into Wordpress. If you don't need to modify the size of the video as it appears in your Wordpress site (default is 640x360), you can simply paste the share link from Warpwire into your Sites@Duke blog post as follows:

  1. Log into your Duke Warpwire Account (warpwire.duke.edu).
  2. Locate the video you want to share.
  3. Click the circle with the ellipsis (three dots) to the right of the video title. In the popup menu that appears, click "Share":
  4. Click "Copy" next to the link as shown below:
  5. Paste the URL you just copied into either a page or post. (It must be on its own line)
  6. Update or publish your post

if you do need to modify the size of your Warpwire video, follow these steps:

  6. In Sites@Duke, type:  [duke_media src="https://duke.service-now.com/your_embed_link_here"
  7. Paste your video link over “your_embed_link_here” part of the code.
  8. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Duke Media Embed to change the default height and width values.

You can also embed an entire Warpwire Media Library by using the link for the library Warpwire provides.

More information about Warpwire is available here.

Panopto

  1. Log into your Panopto account (duke.hosted.panopto.com)
  2. Locate the video you want to share.
  3. Hover over the video and click the Share button.

  4. Then, copy the Share link.
  5. In Sites@Duke, type:  [duke_media src="https://duke.service-now.com/your_embed_link_here"
  6. Paste your video link over “your_embed_link_here” part of the code. Make sure to retain the quotation marks before and after the link.
  7. Important: Replace the word "Viewer" in the link you just pasted with the word "Embed". E.g., "https://duke.hosted.panopto.com/Panopto/Pages/Viewer.aspx?id=55be2e14-2eb6-4ca1-a1f0-b0750158bb77" becomes "https://duke.hosted.panopto.com/Panopto/Pages/Embed.aspx?id=55be2e14-2eb6-4ca1-a1f0-b0750158bb77"
  8. Go to Dashboard > Settings > Duke Media Embed to change the default height and width values if you wish.

More information about Panopto is available on the OIT Website.

YouTube

To embed a video into your site (e.g. YouTube):

  1. Go to YouTube.
  2. Locate the video.
  3. Copy and paste the URL of the video into either a page or post. (It must be on its own line).
  4. Update or Publish.

Here’s an example of how this URL  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhRVVlAESPk appears when you embed it into your site.

Playposit

To embed a PlayPosit bulb into your site:

  1. In the "Plugins" area in your site, add the "Playposit Embed" plugin.
  2. Navigate to Duke PlayPosit at playposit.com/duke
  3. Locate the bulb you wish to embed and choose the "Broadcast" option to create a link to your bulb.
  4. Copy the link URL.
  5. Paste the URL of the video into either a page or post using the "Visual" editor. (It must be on its own line).
  6. Update or Publish.
