Box.com: Create a group folder for departments using Kits
If you're doing work that matters for more than just you, put your work in a Box using Kits.
Box folders set up through Kits:
- are best for teams and projects. If you leave Duke and your work is saved in a Box folder set up through Kits, the rest of your team will be able to continue working in that folder without interruption. If all of your work is in a personal folder, that may not be the case.
- have unlimited quota. Projects consuming large amounts of data will have plenty of room, and data stored in a Box folder set up through Kits won't affect your personal quota.
To create a Box folder through Kits:
- Log into the Kits service. For more information on Kits, see: https://dukelearninginnovation.github.io/kits/
- Under the My Kits menu choose "Create Kit"
- From the drop-down menus, choose a "category" for your kit and select the type "collaboration"
- Enter a Kit ID and a name for your kit in the corresponding text boxes
- click the "Save Kit" button.
- On the kit, click the "Add App" button
- In the App Store, find the listing for Box.
- Click the button "Add App to Kit".
- On the setup page for Box, enter a display name for the folder and with whom in your kit the folder should be shared.
- Click the button "Save & Add to Kit".
- Click the Box icon on your kit to access the folder.
To share your Box folder with other people, add them to the kit:
- Click the three dot menu.
- Click on "View/Edit Roster".
- Click Edit Mode.
- In the name field, type the name of the person you would like to add to the kit.
- Select the appropriate role for the person.
- Click the button "Add" to add the person to the kit.
- In Box: Note - Kits ServiceAccount will ALWAYS be the owner of the folder.
