Critical Play with Generative AI: Co-Intelligence (in person)
Michael Faber
Generative AI tools are just good enough to be helpful, but not yet as creative or thoughtful as humans. This puts it in a sweet spot to be really useful as “co-intelligence” - where human and AI can work together collaboratively.
In this workshop, we’ll collaboratively explore new and emerging generative AI tools in a low-risk, “Serious Play” environment while making space for critical reflection and discussion. We’ll focus the workshop around a creative challenge, and play with various tools to help us brainstorm, write, and communicate. Learners will combine their ideas, prompts, and creativity into conversation with AI tools for generating text, images, and more.
Along the way we’ll make space to discuss the implications and ramifications (good and bad) of how this changes our approach to creative problem solving.
Objectives
- Learn about the landscape of generative AI tools
- Hands-on experience using a variety of AI tools, including “closed tools” like ChatGPT, Claude, and Midjourney, and “Open sourced” tools like Ollama, Stable Diffusion, and more.
- Understand the power, promise, and shortfalls of the current generation of AI tools.
- Explore the concept of Co-Intelligence, and how we can improve human creativity and productivity (or maybe not?)
