Academic Media Production
Academic Media Production creates instructional and academic media that advances Duke’s mission of education, research, and service. We collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to create practical, context-specific resources that inform, support, and extend learning across Duke. We prioritize projects that are useful, honest, and innovative in their application of media within academic environments.
In particular, we produce videos for:
- Classroom - Use video as a pedagogical tool, bringing students to a place they are unable to go, or observe something they otherwise could not;
- Internal Training - Provide uniform instruction on a certain topic to a specific audience;
- Academic Use - For exploring how the Duke community is applying classroom knowledge on campus and in the real world; and
- Grant Applications - We can assist in creating media assets for submission of a grant.
We are not available to:
- Develop promotional or communications material;
- Provide live event coverage, recording or streaming; or
- Produce a podcast.
If we determine your submission is aligned with our objectives, we will reach out to schedule an initial scoping meeting to discuss your project in further detail and a potential timeline. We do not charge for our production or editing services.
If we are unable to support your project, we can:
- Attempt to put you in touch with the appropriate communicator/media production specialist in your department;
- Provide a one-time consultation on available DIY production resources at Duke; or
- Recommend a local freelance videographer.
