This year’s event takes place on Wednesday, May 20, at the NC Biotech Conference Center in Research Triangle Park (15 TW Alexander Dr, Durham).

The new location provides a more spacious, modern setting built for connection and engagement. Expect higher ceilings, expanded networking areas, dedicated workshop spaces, and convenient on-site parking (no shuttle required).

Now in its 17th year, TechExpo offers IT professionals opportunities to showcase innovative accomplishments, spark collaboration, and learn from industry experts. This year’s featured presentation will feature representatives of NCShare, a statewide collaboration advancing shared access to GPU and high-speed networking resources.

This year’s theme, a ‘brave new world,’ may bring to mind the dystopian novel, but organizers have reimagined the future, not as a cautionary tale, but as an opportunity to pair innovation with meaningful human connection.

Topics will include:

  • Practical applications of AI to improve workflows
  • Ethical and accessible uses of emerging technologies
  • Security and risk management
  • How Duke is leveraging innovation across the enterprise

Attendees can join breakout sessions, explore vendor exhibitions, and enjoy freebies, great food, and meaningful interactions with IT leadership. Many look forward to the giveaway prize wheel, and green screen photo booth. This year interactive demos with the Co-Lab will be a new attraction.

TechExpo co-chairs Jillian Kuhn and Vanessa Weber, encourage attendees to make time for connection and open exchange of ideas.

“It’s a chance to put a face to that name you’ve been emailing for years,” Kuhn said. Added Weber, “You’ll make connections, gain new ideas, and enjoy free breakfast, lunch, and coffee—lots of yummy treats for your brain, your mind, and your heart.”
