Action Required: Update Duke AI Gateway models before upcoming retirements
Several AI models available through the Duke AI Gateway and MyGPTBuilder are being retired this summer. If your application or custom GPT references any of the models below, you will need to update it before the retirement date to avoid service interruptions. Review your applications and consider switching to duke-current model for future compatibility.
Models retiring July 23
Update any references to these models before Thursday, July 23, 2026:

- gpt-5.2-codex

- gpt-5.1-chat
Models retiring August 10
Update any references to these models before Monday, August 10, 2026:

- gpt-5.3-chat
A simpler option: duke-current
To reduce the need for future model updates, we’re introducing a new model alias called duke-current.
Instead of referencing a specific model name, point your application or MyGPTBuilder custom model to duke-current. As new models become available and older ones are retired, we will automatically keep duke-current mapped to a highly capable, current model.
Benefits of using duke-current:
- No code changes when underlying models are retired
- Automatic access to current, supported models
- Less ongoing maintenance
As of today, duke-current points to gpt-5.6-sol.
If you prefer to continue selecting a specific model for your application or MyGPTBuilder, you can still do so. duke-current is an additional option, not a replacement.
