BCS Studio 2 - “The Presentation Studio” Self-Service User Guide
BCS Studio 2 is provided for the purpose of recording for Duke related projects. Any activities not related to its primary use is prohibited. If you are found violating this policy, your access to the BCS will be revoked.

- Staff are available for consulting and troubleshooting Monday through Friday, from 9am-5pm, excluding university holidays.
General Tips
- Back Up Your Files: Back up your files to an external storage (USB drive, SD card, Box account, etc). Your account/files may be regularly deleted after your session to ensure the computer has enough operating storage for all users.
- Microphone Placement: Place the microphone a few inches from mouth, angled from the side, for best audio quality.
How to Get Started
- Turn On Equipment
- Use desktop remote control to turn on TV Monitor
- Use wall switches on right wall to turn on overhead lights
- Turn on camera on by moving top switch from “Off” to “Camera”
- Log into the computer with your Duke netID and password
- Pull back black curtains from the wall.
Basic Recording
- Open “Quicktime Player” application from the Dock. Note: No window will pop up.
- From top menu, select “File” and “New Movie Recording”
- In the new preview recording window, hover over the bottom of the window.
- Next to the red recording button, select the downward arrow.
- Make sure Camera is to “USB Video”
- Make sure Microphone is set to “Rode PodMic USB”
- Make sure Quality it set to “Maximum”
- Select the red circle button to start recording.
- Press the grey square button to stop recording.
- Press the play button to watch back your recording.
- If you wish to rerecord:
- Close out of the window by selecting the top left red button.
- Then select “Delete.”
- Restart the recording process by selecting “File” from the top menu and then “New Movie Recording.”
- If you wish to save your recording:
- Select “File” from the top menu, then “Save”
- Save to your external storage device.
- Or save to the desktop and upload to your cloud storage.
