Installation & Setup SAP (With and Without Analysis for Office)
Please Note: Using RemoteApps is the preferred method of accessing SAP.

Prerequisites
For SAP and SAP with Analysis:
- The installation of the applications requires full administrative rights to be able to run.
- If a previous version of SAP is installed - Completely uninstall the current version of SAPgui and Authentic Logon and reboot.
- Download the installers from the OIT Site License Web site.
- Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update, Both 32bit and 64bit
For Analysis for Office Only:
- 64-bit version of Microsoft Office 2016 and greater, or Office 365
- Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime
To use or test SAP, it is necessary to be connected to Duke’s network by one of the methods listed below.
On Duke University or Duke Medical campus
- A wired connection
- A Wi-Fi connection to Dukeblue, or DukeOpen
Working Remotely
- A VPN connection using Cisco AnyConnect (portal.duke.edu, vpn.duke.edu)
Order of Operations (IMPORTANT!)
For Analysis for Office:
- Install Office 64-bit 2016, 2019, or Office 365.
- Only 64-bit versions are compatible.
- Install Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Office Runtime
For SAP and SAP with Analysis:
- (4.) Install Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Service Pack 1 Redistributable Package MFC Security Update, both 32bit and 64bit
- (5.) Install Duke SAP GUI (DukeSAPgui804.exe)
- (6.) Install Authentic Logon (Authentic Logon for SAP 4.1.0 (X64).msi)
Installation of the Program Applications
Install Duke SAPgui
- Run the DukeSAPgui804.exe as Administrator.
- If all prerequisites are installed, you will see the window prompt below:
- Click Next to Continue.
- Select "DukeSAPgui804" > Click Next
- The Installation will run and you will be prompted to Close and reboot once completed. IMPORTANT! Be sure to reboot!
Install Authentic Logon for SAP 4.1.0 (x64)
- Run the Authentic Logon for SAP 4.1.0 (X64).msi as Administrator.
- The installer will run, and you will notice a couple of flashing windows open and close automatically. This is normal.
- Once the installation is complete, the new "MIT Kerberos Ticket Manager" icon will be added to the desktop as a shortcut.
Install Analysis for Office add-in for SAPgui804 (x64)
- Run the AOFFICE28SP20_0-70004973.EXE as Administrator.
- Select Analysis for Microsoft Office (64-bit) on the SAP Front-end Installer window and click Next
- Click Next and leave the default target directory on the next screen.
- IMPORTANT! Reboot the computer and have the employee sign into the system.
Configuration of Analysis for Microsoft Excel
- Have the customer sign into the system, if necessary.
- Double-click the Authentic Login icon to enter your NetID and password and obtain a security ticket, just as you would to log into SAP.
- Launch Analysis for Microsoft Excel, simply use the Windows Start menu to find and select Analysis for Microsoft Excel as outlined below:
- Path: All Programs > SAP Business Intelligence > Analysis for Microsoft Excel
- Path: All Programs > SAP Business Intelligence > Analysis for Microsoft Excel
- From the Excel menu bar options, choose File > Analysis > Customize Analysis > Options.
- If you receive a prompt regarding free text fields, click in the box for Do not show again if Desired and then click OK.
- In the Options dialog box, click the Platform tab.
- Under the Platform tab, use the drop-down for the fields if needed to ensure that Business Warehouse is displayed in both the Preferred Platform and Comments Storage fields. Click OK.
- Now open Technical Configuration by selecting Customize Analysis > Options > Technical Configuration.
- Use the Find selection to search for 'Landscape'.
- Ensure that the option, "UseSapUILandscapeComApi" option is unchecked and click OK.
- Use the Back button (circle with arrow) in upper left corner to return to Excel spreadsheet.
- Select the Analysis tab in the ribbon.
- Click "Insert Data Source, then click Select Data Source for Analysis...
- If Prompted for Client and Language, after selecting data source, as in the following screen, enter the following
- Client: 100
- Language: EN
- Click OK
- Ensure that Data sources are available under the Connections folder by expanding the folder.

Troubleshooting
Symptom:
System connections not recognized in Analysis for Office when attempting to insert a data source into an Excel worksheet.
Solution:
Open the menu path File -> Analysis -> Customize Analysis -> Technical Configuration. Use the Find selection to search for Landscape. Ensure that the option UseSapUILandscapeComApi option is unchecked and then select OK. Close Excel and start again.
Symptom:
The following screen appears after select data source:
Solution:
Enter Client: 100, Language EN
Symptom:
SAP Front End installer displays the following error message, but Office seems to be installed.
Solution
Verify the version of Office is 64bit:
- Open a Word document or create a new blank document
- Navigate to File > Account > Click About Word.
Symptom:
The following username and password prompt appears when attempting to use the Analysis tab:
Solution
Close Excel.
Ensure connection to the Duke network - either via wired, wireless, or VPN connection.
Get ticket from MIT Kerberos Ticket Manager for @ACPUB.DUKE.EDU (see webpage for instructions on getting a ticket)
