Microsoft changes may require Outlook email update

On October 31, Microsoft will make a change affecting the ability of some Duke email users using old and/or unpatched versions of the Outlook email client on Windows computers. As a result, computers with the old software will not be able to access Office 365 email and calendars.

To avoid disruption to your email access, please contact your local IT support to have them update your Outlook client for Duke owned machines. We recommend Outlook 2016, fully patched.

If you or your IT support person has updated your Outlook program in the last few weeks please disregard this notice.

Note: This change will only affect Outlook for Windows-based computers. Macs and all mobile devices are not affected.

Access to your email account via webmail (https://mail.duke.edu) will not be affected by this change.

If you use a personal Windows device to access your Duke email, please refer to the following knowledgebase article for instructions on how to install an up to date Outlook program.
