Account Setup - DukeStream Personal

Please read these guidelines before setting up an account.

As of August, 2007, OIT now provides DukeStream Personal for all faculty, staff, and students. This service allows you to stream QuickTime content from your WebFiles space and differs from DukeStream Pro in that you do not need to request special space in order to stream your content. Instead, you can use WebFiles to create and administer your personal streaming environment.  (Additionally, you can use WebFiles to administer DukeStream Pro directories.)  At this time, DukeStream Personal supports only QuickTime-based formats, while DukeStream Pro also supports RealMedia-based formats.

To set up your WebFiles space for streaming content, follow these steps:
  1. Go to WebFiles (http://webfiles.duke.edu).
  2. Click the Shared Spaces tab at the top of the page.
  3. After the page has loaded, locate the section "Your personal web space" at the top of the page.
  4. Find the line in this section that ends in "Sites/Streaming" and click the button labeled "Create Streaming".
  5. When the process completes, the button will now be labeled "Upload to Streaming". You can proceed to Uploading Content.

If you experience difficulties with any of these steps, contact the OIT Help Desk at (919) 684-2200 or ask for help online.
