After You Record - Managing Your Recordings

Logging in - Viewing your recording

After your session has been recorded, uploaded to the server and transcoded (this could take up to 1 - 2 hours), you will receive an email that your recording is ready to be viewed.  The email you receive will contain a link to view the recording.  If you would like to edit, share and view stats for your recording, you will need to log in to your DukeCapture site (if you don't know where to log in or if there are issues with your recording, contact your Site Administrator).

Editing your recording

DukeCapture allows you to edit your videos in a simple web browser interface that works on Mac or Windows using Silverlight.

  1. Log in to your DukeCapture site (if you don't know where to log in, contact your Site Administrator).
  2. Follow the steps listed in Panopto's documentation here: http://support.panopto.com/documentation/panopto30/edit30basic1

Sharing your recording

There are three ways to share your recordings: using DukeCapture via a web browser, download and RSS.

Share using DukeCapture via a web browser

  1. Log in to your DukeCapture site (if you don't know where to log in, contact your Site Administrator).
  2. Locate your recording
  3. Click on the sharing icon

Here you can add users or choose to allow anyone to view.  When you add users an email will be sent out to each person you add providing a link to the recording.

Download

Panopto allows you to download entire presentation packages in .zip format.  This could be useful when you want to send the presentation to someone or you need to play it in the absence of an internet connection.  Once it is unzipped, you can run your presentation in a web browser.

  1. Log in to your DukeCapture site (if you don't know where to login, contact your Site Administrator).
  2. Browse to your folder.  You'll see a list of completed recordings for that folder.
  3. Click the checkbox next to the recordings you want to download
  4. Click the button at the top of the screen that says "Download."

Download/RSS (great for podcasting and uploading to YouTube or iTunes U)

  1. Log in to your DukeCapture site (if you don't know where to log in, contact your Site Administrator).
  2. Follow the instructions listed on Panopto's documentation here: http://support.panopto.com/documentation/panopto30/podcastandrss

Viewing Stats (analytics)

Panopto has built in statistics.  You can see how many unique users have viewed your recording and for how long.

  1. Log in to your Panopto site (if you don't know where to log in, contact your Site Administrator).
  2. Locate your recording and click on the stats icon.  You can also click on a stats icon that shows stats for an entire folder.
  3. You can also download CSV files if you would like to import your data into an Excel document or database.
