Paging Devices for Faculty and Staff

Subscribers to local-area and high-priority service use an alphanumeric pager. Subscribers to wide-area service may choose either an alphanumeric or two-way pager.

Alphanumeric pager

You can receive both numeric and text pages on an alphanumeric pager. Your pager may vary slightly from the model shown.

  • Receives text and numeric messages (cannot send messages)
  • Stores up to 30,000 characters and 34 messages (19 personal, 15 information services)
  • Illuminated display
  • Displays up to four lines of text; zooms in to display two lines in larger font
  • Displays time and date
  • Built-in alarm clock
  • User-selectable alerts, including vibrate
  • Provides reminder alert
  • Displays battery gauge
  • Saves messages when off or changing the battery
  • Allows locking of important messages, to prevent accidental erasure
  • Information services include sports, weather, headline news, and stock updates (not available in all areas)

Two-way pagers

Duke offers two models of two-way pagers, the Motorola T900 and the Motorola P935. Both allow you to send, receive, and reply to messages nationwide.
