Phone software to be updated

As part of an upgrade of the Duke VoIP (Voice over IP) phone system this summer, OIT will be updating software on phones across the university beginning Thursday and continuing through next week.

The phone software update takes between five and 10 minutes per telephone. During that time, the phone will be unavailable for the user to place or receive calls. Calls that are in progress will not be disconnected; the phone will reset after the call is completed. Any calls to phones that are resetting will be transferred to voicemail.

The update will change each phone's display back to the default screen background and will remove any numbers in each phone's individual directory (including missed calls, received calls and placed calls). To reconfigure the display background image for the display, users can press Settings, select User Preferences, select Background Images, select an image, choose Save and then exit.

If you have any questions or need assistance, please contact the OIT Service Desk at http://oit.duke.edu/help or (919) 684-2200.
