DukeCapture users must reset NetID passwords
On Feb. 14, OIT Interactive Technology Services (ITS) was alerted to the fact that NetID passwords for users of the DukeCapture (Panopto) website were being transmitted unencrypted, an unintended consequence of an upgrade on Dec. 19, 2011.
This problem has now been fixed, but the IT Security Office has recommended that all Panopto users who logged into the system since Dec. 19 change their NetID passwords as a precaution. We will notify impacted users directly to ask them to their passwords by Feb. 27. OIT will then force a password change for users who do not change their passwords by that date.
We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, and we have implemented measures to ensure that this does not happen again.
To change your NetID password, visit the OIT home page (http://oit.duke.edu), find the POPULAR SERVICES list and:
- Choose "OIT account self-service," and then use the password reset function at the top of the right-hand column of the account self-service tool
- Choose "Password reset," and then use the NetID password reset tool
Please contact the OIT Service Desk (http://oit.duke.edu/help) with questions.
