We're testing a replacement for Online@Duke

On Tuesday, July 12, OIT will launch a system that will eventually replace Online@Duke. The new OIT "Account Self-service" tool will allow users to manage their NetID passwords, challenge/response questions, email settings and so on, just as Online@Duke does, but it is built on a much more flexible platform that will allow us to add new features quickly and easily.

Initially, you'll be able to use the new OIT account self-service tool to:

  • search the online directory by name, NetID, Duke Unique ID or phone number
  • change your NetID password
  • add, delete and edit your challenge/response questions (we use these question-and-answer pairs to confirm your identity on line)
  • manage your email settings—set up message filters, message forwarding and automated out-of-office replies—for both DukeMail and Exchange
  • check your ePrint quota and see status of ePrint printers across campus

When you log in to the OIT account self-service tool at http://oit.duke.edu/selfservice, you'll see a lot of the information Duke has in its records for you—such as work address, home address and phone numbers—listed in the overview section in the left-hand column. If you need to change your address or phone numbers, you'll use the link at the bottom of the overview area to go to Duke@Work (faculty and staff) or ACES (students). You'll use the OIT account self-service tool only to manage the information OIT maintains, such as NetID password, email alias and challenge/response questions.

The new account self-service tool and Online@Duke will operate together for a few months, to allow us to gather feedback from users about the new tool and tweak its operation before we take Online@Duke down. When you see a link to the new tool on the OIT site during the test period, please try it out and give us feedback and suggestions. There's a link to the feedback form in the left-hand column under the overview section, but you can access it directly using this link: https://duke.qualtrics.com/SE/?SID=SV_1zvmM4DSHvyySt6.

And of course, please contact the OIT Service Desk if you have problems with the new account self-service tool.
