Phishing scam attempts to access NetIDs, passwords

Jan. 29, 2009

On Thursday, Jan. 29, the Duke Information Security Office detected a phishing scam that attempted to gain information about Duke NetID accounts. Details about the scam are available on the Security wiki.

Duke’s Office of Information Technology and Information Security Office will never ask users for their NetID and password via e-mail. If faculty, staff and students receive an e-mail that seems like a scam, they should call the OIT Service Desk at 684-2200 to verify it.
