Airport Extreme update for OS 10.5.5 users
Nov. 14, 2008
Mac users who have been experiencing Wi-Fi connectivity issues should install AirPort Extreme Update 2008-004. The update is available through the Apple Software Update application or through a search for "AirPort Extreme Update 2008-004" on www.apple.com/support.
This update applies to newer Intel-based Macintosh computers with Broadcom-chipset wireless adapters running Mac OS X 10.5.5. It resolves an issue some users experience when the device will not switch to another access point while roaming in a large Wi-Fi network.
OIT worked with vendor partners to identify the cause of this issue, and we anticipate that installing the update will resolve the problem.
If you continue to see wireless performance issues after installing the update, please call the OIT Service Desk at 684-2200 and choose option 1.
