DukeMail issues resolved for most users
Oct. 10, 2008
After working closely with Duke’s e-mail vendor, the Office of Information Technology has restored e-mail service for almost all of the 50,000 faculty, students and staff who use DukeMail. The e-mail system has been up since about 4 p.m. Thursday.
E-mail administrators have identified about 2,400 users who may have corrupt mail folders and is working to reconstruct their mailboxes. To mitigate risk on the system as a whole, these accounts have been disabled (and will be inaccessible) until the reconstruction process is complete. Individual accounts will be restored as each mailbox is reconstructed. The reconstruction is expected to be complete by 2 p.m. today.
No data has been lost, and e-mails sent and received during the service interruption will be delivered as account access is restored.
