Home Broadband Service Options

The Office of Information Technology has arranged special plans and pricing with two local providers of broadband Internet access. Faculty, staff, students, and alumni of Duke are eligible to subscribe to these services, offered by Time Warner Cable Business Class and intrex.net DSL.

    Important

    (1)  If you are currently having your service paid by a Duke cost center, DO NOT go through Time Warner Residential for any changes or upgrades to your service.  Use the OIT website.

    (2)  If you are currently a Self-Pay customer and receiving the Duke discounted rate, DO NOT go through Time Warner Residential for any changes or upgrades to your service.  Use the OIT website.

    (3)  If your Road Runner Service is currently being paid by a Duke cost center and you wish to accept the responsibility for the service as a Self-Pay customer, please select here.  Depending on the time of conversion, your billing change will be effective the 1st of the month.

    (4)  If you are a Duke-sponsored customer who wants to change from one cost center to another, please click here and provide your  name, unique ID, old cost center and your new cost center.

  • Billing: You may pay your TWCBC bill directly, or have it billed directly to your department (upon approval of your business manager.)
  • Contract Term: All subscriptions are month-to-month. You may terminate at any time.
  • Email Accounts: Each subscription affords up to 8 email accounts.

The following enhanced Time Warner Cable Business Class plans include one user-assignable static IP address for any  network device on the LAN. Options for a block of five (5) user-assignable IPs (additional $15/month) or thirteen (13) user-assignable IPs (additional $30/month) are also available. These options cannot be combined (you have a choice of 1, 5, or 13).

*Enhanced service plans require an additional installation fee of $50 to cover the cost of router configuration by the installer. If you have a specific router configuration request, please email support@twcbroadband.com once you have submitted your order. Include your name, service address and phone number.

Intrex.net DSL services

  • Subscribe or Change Intrex.net DSL Service
  • Technical Support: Please call 919-406-1578 or toll-free 888-884-7989. All options provide 24-hour support.
  • Billing: You may pay your Intrex.net DSL bill directly, or have it billed directly to your department (upon approval of your business manager.)
  • Contract Term: All subscriptions are month-to-month following an initial 6-month commitment. Following the first six months, you may terminate at any time. Termination during the first six months will incur a $50 fee. To terminate the contract written notice must be given to Intrex no less than 30 days prior to the requested termination date.
  • Email Accounts: Each subscription affords up to 5 email accounts.

The following Consumer Class Intrex.net DSL service plans do not include static IP addresses. However, if you require a static IP address you may add one or more for an additional $5 each per month. Intrex.net service plans also include 5 MB of server space (for Web page hosting, FTP, etc.).
