NetID Eligibility

Beginning March 31, 2008, OIT will notify approximately 15,000 former Duke community members that their NetID eligibility has ended due to the loss of any formal Duke affiliation such as staff or faculty.  As of April 18, 2008, these NetIDs and any associated accounts will be deactivated.

Exceptions may be granted on a case by case basis.  Any person who believes he or she still has a formal business relationship with Duke can ask a Duke sponsor to request affiliate status on his or her behalf.  A Duke sponsor is defined as a person who meets all three of the following critera:

1) Is full-time regular paid staff or faculty at Duke (with a record in the HR system of record, SAP) .
2) Has first-hand, personal knowledge of the affiliate’s formal relationship with Duke.
3) Agrees to vouch for the affiliate's formal relationship with Duke and agrees to immediately notify OIT when that relationship ends.

The process for a Duke sponsor to request Affiliate status for someone who has lost his or her staff/faculty affiliation with Duke is as follows:

1) Obtain the person’s Duke Unique ID # (7 digit-number beginning with a 0).
2) Go to the following NetID-enabled web site and make a request using the Duke Unique ID number:  https://idms.oit.duke.edu/dukeid/request

After the request has been made, the sponsor will be contacted regarding the requested affiliate status.  Requests will be answered on a first come, first served basis.  During the month of April, responses may take up to one week.  Sponsors are expected to communicate the results of the request to the affiliate.
