Duke University and its IT Security Office are committed to helping faculty, staff and students to protect their computers and information from viruses and spyware. 

Duke offers virus protection for Windows and Mac users at no cost. The Office of Information Technology distributes and supports Symantec Endpoint Protection for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The software will check for updates automatically when you start your computer and can be set to scan your computer regularly, too.

Check there for detailed information on various security topics including password strength, data protection, device security, safe computing when traveling, Internet safety and copyright. The website also includes alerts about specific issues the ITSO is tracking.
