OIT Storage Services
OIT provides several standard storage offerings to align the technical requirements with the appropriate price point.
Tier 1
Tier 1 (aka Platinum) storage is individually designed to meet the requirements of the highest end systems and therefore OIT does not offer standard pricing for this level of storage. OIT currently utilizes EMC VMAX arrays with synchronous SRDF to provide Tier 1 capabilities. Submit a general inquiry form to the OIT Storage Team if you believe you may require this level of storage.
Tier 2
Tier 2 is the appropriate solution to meet a majority of OIT’s customer’s storage requirements. There are 5 standard offerings within Tier 2 that align with a majority of the requests. Storage can be accessed via the SAN (within OIT supported datacenters), or through NAS (CIFS or NFS access). All pricing shown is Annual $/Gb.

Departments interested in one of the above OIT provided storage solutions, complete the OIT Storage Services request form. If your application requires a different configuration than these standard offerings (Ex. RAID 10 instead of RAID 5), submit a general inquiry form to the OIT Storage Team to discuss alternatives.
TSM Backups
OIT offers special bundled pricing for hosted storage customers who use OIT's enterprise backup solution. This pricing is calculated against the number of gigabytes of hosted storage used, not on gigabytes of full and incremental data backups stored on backup media, which is on average 1.2x. For more detail on pricing, see the table above or the OIT TSM page.Forecasting
A majority of storage requests can be turned around within 2 weeks for requests less than 2 Tb. However, it is requested that the storage team be contacted as soon as the requirement is known to allow for proper capacity and resource planning. This need for additional lead-time is magnified by large requests (over 2 Tb).
Getting started
Departments interested in OIT provided storage should complete one of the two forms below:
