Centralized Device Service & Support

OIT Centralized Device Services and Support (CDSS) is a team of IT Analyst professionals who support the information technology needs of many Duke University departments. CDSS provides support for desktops, laptops, tablets and handheld devices, as well as:

  • On-site support for Windows and Macintosh computers
  • File storage, application hosting and web hosting
  • Hardware and software installation, upgrades and troubleshooting
  • Patching and update management
  • Consulting on technology purchases
  • Malware scanning and removal
  • Computer lab setup and support
  • Assisting customers in interactions with other technical departments and vendors

Enterprise Internet Services

The Enterprise Internet Services group is responsible for design, development and comprehensive support of centralized messaging services. These services include inbound/outbound mail routing, mail systems, instant messaging, load balancing and mobile-device synchronization. Other critical enterprise-wide infrastructure components include spam, malware and virus protection, quarantine, Active Directory and SharePoint support. Network design comprises the design and validation of emerging technologies to facilitate collaboration across different domains and platforms.

Shared Infrastructure

Shared Infrastructure provides reliable, well-managed environments for services run by OIT and by departments across campus. The OIT services supported include:

  • SAN and NAS storage
  • Linux and Windows virtual servers hosted on VMware ESX
  • TSM server and storage backups
